Hi John,

I am a Master Gardener for the Extension Center here.

For Carpenter bees, it is best to spray in the holes in the evening or when
it is cool and they are in there. You can use any commercial spray to kill
bees/wasps and such. After you have sprayed and it has dried, put a residual
insecticide powder or spray into the hole. Then seal up the holes and paint.

It is best if it is really really bad, to replace as much of the wood as
possible.

These guys are a pain to get rid of. If you leave any alive they will bore
back out. Check often.

I am sorry, I am not at the office to be able to tell you how to get rid of
carpenter ants. It's been a while since I answered that question.

I am sure that if you do a search on the Internet, I like www.dogpile.com for
a search engine, you will find something that will help you.

Best of luck!!

Kathy.
