To answer your original query- you might try to contact Living History Farms in Urbandale, Iowa. They interpret a 1900 era farmstead. A far cry from Florida, but it might provide a good start. Myles Hegstrom is the Collections Manager, and he might be able to give some pointers. 

Not much of a help, but hopefully can provide some direction for you.
