Program Presentation Proposals
for its
17th Annual Visitor Studies Conference
Albuquerque, NM
August 3-7, 2004

DEADLINE IS DECEMBER 10, 2004

The aim of the Visitor Studies Association Conference 2004 is to
generate informative, thought-provoking discussions that promote
visitor-centered experiences in informal learning settings.
Topics can include:
. Studies that examine how people behave in public places or factors
that facilitate visitor satisfaction and learning
. Best practices and innovative approaches used to design and evaluate
visitor services, programs and exhibitions
including interactive devices, labels and graphics
. Front-end, formative or summative evaluation studies for exhibitions
or education programs
. Methods and results of audience research and marketing studies
. Ethical issues related to visitor studies
. Theory and methodology considerations in study design
. Practical concerns and solutions in planning or conducting evaluations
. Institutional issues such as leadership, accessibility and strategic
planning
. Learning theory and educational issues relevant to museum audiences
