Wednesday, January 21

 

8:30 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.                Continental Breakfast

 

9:00 a.m.12:00 noon             “Positive Thinking”

                                                Is your glass half empty or half full?  Positive thinkers live longer, healthier, happier lives.  Join presenter Jane Bozarth for a lively exploration of ways to break out of negative thinking habits and develop a more energetic, optimistic, joyful approach to life.

 

12:00 noon1:30 p.m.            Lunch on your own

 

1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.               “Turning Stress into Power”

                                                Jane will help participants learn to recognize internally generated versus externally caused stressor, learn how to handle anger and other negative emotions in productive, purposeful ways, and identify action plans for reducing the quantity and negative effects of stress. Also, participants will work to identify strategies for helping staff deal with their stress.

 

Thursday, January 22

 

8:30 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.                Continental Breakfast

 

9:00 a.m.12:00 noon         “Guiding Conflict Resolution”

                                                In a changing workplace, healthy differences can escalate to conflict.  Addressing conflict quickly and effectively is a crucial leadership role.  This session enables leaders to recognize signs that conflict exists, assess each conflict situation to determine their level of involvement, and serve as facilitator in encouraging those involved in the conflict to achieve resolution.  Gerry Fisher and Jane Bozarth will teach skills to provide support and to act as mediators.

1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.               “Helping Others Adapt to Change”

                                                Jane and Gerry focus on the crucial role leaders have ineffectively exploring change, introducing change, and helping others overcome resistance typically associated with change.  Participants learn how to conduct effective change discussions that minimize the potentially negative effects of change on morale, processes, and productivity.

 

Friday, January 23

9:00 a.m.12:00 noon         “Emotional Intelligence/Learned Optimism/Doing More with Less”  (Part I)

                                                Gerry will guide participants in learning about their emotional intelligence, how to keep motivated and keep others motivated, and how to use resources smartly and optimize opportunities.
