Has anyone mentioned the over-the-top trashy mysteries by Richard Timothy Conroy, all set in the Smithsonian in the early 1970's? "Mr Smithson's Bones" is a title I remember. They were all written in the 1990's, but stylisticly, they are more similar to 1970's pulp than 1990's pulp. (This also means some possibly insulting ethnic stereotypes.) I think that Mr. Conroy intends this as homage, in the style of Quentin Tarantino, but I may be giving him more credit than he is due.
