Sorry for the second message, but I forgot to add something. What makes a book club fun is to find books that people will either love or hate. If simply one or the other, the discussion will be short and boring. “City of Light,” the book I mentioned in my previous post, was one of those books that split the group. Another book we read was the “Oldest Living Confederate Widow Tells All” by Allan Gurganus. This book was a best-seller, made into a TV movie, and has decent reviews on Amazon. I suppose that means that many out there liked it, but most everyone in my book group hated it (even the person that selected it apologized to the group!).
