Exhibitions as Contested Sites website, industry symposium and online survey "Exhibitions as contested sites: the role of museums in contemporary society" is a three-year Australian and international research project funded by the Australian Research Council with partners the University of Sydney History Department; the Australian Museum, Sydney; and the Australian War Memorial, Canberra. The project is investigating the current and potential roles of museums around contentious topics and as civic spaces, with an emphasis on how institutions can deal effectively with the challenge of developing exhibitions on these subjects.
