There was some discussion over the summer about museums and other attractions working together on promotional efforts, and I wanted to share one that has just started here in DC. There are currently fifty museums and cultural organizations involved. Blues & Dreams: Celebrating the African-American Experience in Washington, DC From September 15 through November 30, 2003, Washington, DC will pay tribute to the African-American experience in our nation's capital through art, dance, music, theatre, history and literature. In connection with the highly-anticipated exhibition "The Art of Romare Bearden" at the National Gallery of Art and "African-American Quilts from the Robert and Helen Cargo Collection" exhibition at The Textile Museum, dozens of cultural organizations are presenting special programming including exhibitions and lecture series, customized walking tours and concerts, dance and theatre performances. Area hotels and restaurants are offering special travel packages and menus. For more information, visit www.bluesanddreams.com.
