Yan, Museum system vendors are just beginning to experiment with the interaction of EAD and conventional museum collections management. We've been working on such a system at my institution for a few years now, the company that produces it is Minisis Inc. of Vancouver, BC in Canada (www.minisisinc.com <www.minisisinc.com> ). The Online Archive of California has integrated a large number of state archives and museums into a system that combines EAD and the Making of America II format (MOAII)from the Library of Congress. It's not exactly what you're talking about, but it's a well-established start. There is a fair amount of grousing among museum folk that EAD doesn't do precisely what museums need and there are some efforts, most notably emanating from IMLS, to define a standard for museum "collections". You might want to post this question on MCN-L, (sign up at www.mcn.edu <www.mcn.edu> ) and if you're really interested in this topic, attend the Museum Computer Network meeting in Las Vegas this November, where subjects like this get a lot of attention. >>Just wondering if anyone has thoughts/experience considering how to use EAD (might be an EAD system) with Museum management software. ________________________________________ Chuck Patch Director of Systems The Historic New Orleans Collection www.hnoc.org <www.hnoc.org> ========================================================= Important Subscriber Information: The Museum-L FAQ file is located at http://www.finalchapter.com/museum-l-faq/ .
