APPLICATION DEADLINE: Tuesday, May 20, 2003 JOB DESCRIPTION: Reporting to the Archivist, the Conservation Technician/Cataloguer will assist with the processing of the photographic holdings (Roy Studio fonds) of the Peterborough Centennial Museum and Archives... To: inspect, conserve and store images in accordance with accepted conservation/archival practice by removing images from original envelopes; removing dust, dirt and other foreign matter; transferring images to new acid-free archival sleeves; storing in new acid-free containers; identify, repair/restore damaged images; and assist with preservation copying of original negatives; prepare condition and treatment reports; and assist in the preparation of progress and technical reports on the fonds; provide technical advice and otherwise assist with access to the fonds and development of exhibits. QUALIFICATIONS: Requires an individual who has a Community College Diploma in Collections Conservation and Management or approved equivalent; six months previous archival/museum experience; specialization in photographic or archival paper conservation an asset; intermediate word processing and data base software skills required; proven written communication skills.
