It is possible (and easy) to set security levels on Filemaker so that users can be locked out of modifying fields.  I would really, really (really) argue against putting data that needs to be manipulated in a word processing program.   Indexing and word searches are not the same thing as sorting on any combination of fields (not to mention the zillion other wonderful things you can do with FMP, including creating related databases, adding fields and doing a wide range of layouts).  Besides why do three different things to get the information usable, when you can just enter the data once?

Hi all,

I have already talked to Nikkie over the phone. You all have suggested some really nice things, But what you have missed is that she did not want folks to be able to change it.

I suggested doing it all in her word processing program and then putting it into a PDF. She can easily index this as well as make it searchable.

She can place this on the web and have it available for downloads and searchable.

And it can be used on any computer.
