Freelance Photo Researcher, Encyclopedia of Television

Museum of Broadcast Communications (MBC), 78 E. Washington St., Chicago, IL 60602 

Project:

The Museum of Broadcast Communications (MBC) has authored the Encyclopedia of Television, one of the most definitive sources on television history. We are seeking a freelance photo researcher to manage the rights and clearances of images to be used in the 2nd edition of the Encyclopedia of Television.  We are looking to fill this position immediately.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Acquire and negotiate under a tight deadline for use of illustrations, photos/images, and logos.
  • Oversee database management to track materials and compliance with usage terms.
  • Research sources of ownership of images and obtain contact information.
  • Coordinate payments with MBC Finance staff.

Position Requirements:

  • Thorough understanding of agreements, contracts, and copyright law.
  • Very familiar with industry sources, publishing procedures, and Filemaker Pro.
  • Minimum two years of rights and clearances experience.
  • Demonstrated self-starter with excellent follow-through and management experience.
  • Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • BS/BA required.
  • Able to work flexible schedule and under a tight deadline.

Term: 1 – 2 months

Compensation: Dependent upon experience.
