Hi Terrie,

I am beginning a consulting business and need help on how and what I should charge my clients. The services that I will provide will focus on providing assistance to make up for lack of human resources and expertise due to hiring freezes and laying off employees because of the severe economic downturn. My purpose is to help them to save money, but still give them the help needed to implement desired programs and activities, instead of suspending them due to lack of resources.

I want to remain sensitive to their budgets, but I don't want to undervalue my services.

Thank you,

Christi Pemberton

Merri Pemberton:

I am sure there are several of us who consult to/with museums on this list.  I, for one, would be happy to talk with you about your needs.  In your future postings, it would be helpful to have a bit more information up front in your posting.  Thanks.

Kind regards,
Terrie

Would anyone in here have experience in museum consulting or contracting out services to museums?

Sincerely,

We include our Curator and Collections Manager.  The Executive Director also sits in on meetings.  We also have knowledgeable board members who offer their input.  It’s really a museum-wide committee.

Greetings all –

The International Spy Museum is in the process of forming a collections committee to review and approve objects for accessioning.  We have an education department of four people who would be on the committee, but we were wondering who else should be included to make a well-rounded and functional committee. I was curious about the composition of collections committees of other museums. Do they include the Executive Director? Knowledgeable board members? Outside experts? Any insights and experiences would be welcomed, thank you in advance.

Sincerely,

Caitlin
