Public History Internship

The Cass County Historical Society in conjunction with North Dakota State
University is searching for a student intern for Summer 2003.  The intern
will be required to work 400 hours during the summer.  The experience can be
used for up to 9 hours of internship credit at NDSU or elsewhere.  The
student will receive a stipend of $2,000 for the summer.

The intern will work with a graphic design intern to plan, research, and
construct two exhibits on the history of Fargo under the direction of a
museum consultant.  One exhibit will have a permanent home at Bonanzaville,
the pioneer village museum of the Cass County Historical Society, the other
will be donated to the State Historical Society of North Dakota's touring
exhibit program.  The intern will be expected to work full-time on the
exhibits for 10 weeks of the summer.

Requirements for the internship include:
- Upper division or graduate student
- Excellent research and writing skills
- Background in museum studies or public history
- Ability to plan and work independently

Applications should consist of a cover letter indicating interest in and
qualifications for the internship, a current resume, and a list (with names,
addresses, phone numbers, and e-mails) of three references.  Applications
must be delivered to the History Department at NDSU by April 1st, 2003.


Graphic Design Internship

The Cass County Historical Society in conjunction with North Dakota State
University is searching for a graphic design student intern for Summer 2003.
The intern will be required to work 200 hours during the summer.  The
experience can be used for up to 4 hours of internship credit at NDSU or
elsewhere.  The student will receive a stipend of $1,000 for the summer.

The intern will work with a public history intern to plan, design, and
construct two exhibits on the history of Fargo under the direction of a
museum consultant.  One exhibit will have a permanent home at Bonanzaville,
the pioneer village museum of the Cass County Historical Society, the other
will be donated to the State Historical Society of North Dakota's touring
exhibit program.  The intern will be expected to work half-time on the
exhibits for 10 weeks of the summer.

Requirements for the internship include:
- Upper division or graduate student
- Majoring in Graphic Design program
- Excellent design skills
- Ability to plan and work independently

Applications should consist of a cover letter indicating interest in and
qualifications for the internship, a current resume, a portfolio of ten to
fifteen pieces (hard color copies only please), and a list (with names,
addresses, phone numbers, and e-mails) of three references.  Applications
must be delivered to the History Department at NDSU by April 1st, 2003.
