Director/Curator. Albany Civil Rights Movement Museum seeks experienced museum professional to lead daily operations. Operating since 1998 in the restored 1906 old Mt. Zion Church, the museum interprets the history of the Southwest Georgia Civil Rights Movement with heavy emphasis on oral history and music. Ideal candidate will be an innovative, forward thinking, self-starter capable of working with a board of directors, small part-time staff and volunteers. Director/Curator coordinates all aspects of museum management including grant writing, fundraising, fiscal management, community relations, exhibition and program development, collections management, building and grounds care and marketing. The museum is part of an extensive plan to revitalize Albany’s downtown. Albany has a population of 96,000 and functions as the social and economic hub of Southwest Georgia. Master’s Degree in museum studies or related field, two or more years of administrative experience, and knowledge of African American history preferred. Salary in the mid-30’s. EOE.
