As an artist, I've charged borrowers as much as $2000 loan fees to cover the costs of handling and doing condition reports on returned work. If a certain "installation" artwork is made up of many parts (some of my works have a few thousand parts), one could go broke paying for extra hired help to check the works for damages, missing pieces, doing photo documentation, inventory, etc. I don't charge loan fees just for the sake of lending a work, but it's reasonable (if not crucial!) to request that these additional costs be covered by a borrower, especially when extra staffing is needed to manage the details. ==================== Allan McCollum 63 Greene Street, #308 New York, NY 10012 USA Email: <A HREF="mailto:[log in to unmask]">[log in to unmask]</A> Website: <A HREF="http://home.att.net/~allanmcnyc"> http://home.att.net/~allanmcnyc</A> ========================================================= Important Subscriber Information: The Museum-L FAQ file is located at http://www.finalchapter.com/museum-l-faq/ .
