Wells Fargo seeks a qualified individual to assist in its History Museum and Corporate Archives in San Francisco, CA

 

The Wells Fargo Archives collects and preserves information sources which document the origins, development and operations of Wells Fargo from 1852 to the present.  The Wells Fargo History Museum presents and interprets the history of Wells Fargo and its role in California history, primarily from the period 1852 - 1918. 

 

DUTIES:

(Archives)  Under general direction of the Archivist, inventory, organize, processes and describe collections of institutional records.  Create finding aids and index publications. File new materials in proper location and re-file additional/supplemental materials into existing collections.  Conduct minor preservation work as needed. Conduct research for internal and external inquiries. 

(Museum)  Become well versed in Wells Fargo and California history.  Interact with visitors and give tours of the museum.  Perform retail and inventory tasks.   Perform special projects and other departmental operations as needed.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

B.A. degree in History or related field.  Familiarity with the variety of materials and formats found in archives and museums.  Previous experience in working with collections.  Public speaking skills.  Comfort with retail sales.  Competence in a PC environment; proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Access.  Working knowledge of on-line information retrieval.  Attentive to detail.  Able to accurately follow directions and work under minimal supervision.

 

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

Progress toward an M.A. degree in Museum Studies or related field.  Knowledge of Past Perfect Museum Software. Experience in creating Finding Aids.  Familiarity with preservation techniques and safe storage procedures for rare and archival materials.  Experience in preparing educational tour materials and leading groups of children.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants must be physically able to perform the duties of this position, such as climbing a stepstool and handling boxes of records (some weighing up to 40 pounds); walking, stooping, bending and lifting.  Considerable standing during tour presentations.

 

JOB SPECIFICS:

This is a contractual position to be renewed every six months.

Position is 30-40 hours per week (Monday through Friday).  No benefits accrue with this position.  

Pay rate is $14-18 per hour, depending upon experience and qualifications.

Travel expenses or relocation expenses are not covered for this position.
