Colleagues - The Smart Museum of Art would like to dramatically re-vamp its collections management database system (currently FileMaker Pro) and re-design its web interface, which allows the database to be searchable on-line. We are looking for a person/company in the Chicago area to bring in as a consultant to help us achieve this - the person/company should have experience with databases in general (FileMaker Pro in particular) and with web design, and it would be wonderful if s/he has worked with museums on similar projects to best understand our needs. Can anyone out there recommend such a person/company? I know FileMaker Pro is very customizable and easy to use, but we're really looking for someone to take the burden of this project off of the museum staff and also strategize about the web interface to make our on-line database more usable. The Smart Museum uses Apple computers and we're not prepared to switch just yet, although we would be open to the idea of a totally new, Mac-compatible database system. If anyone can recommend a person/company that fits this description, please contact me off-list ([log in to unmask]). Thank you very much in advance for all of your suggestions! - Jennifer Widman Jennifer Widman Moyer, Registrar The Smart Museum of Art The University of Chicago 5550 South Greenwood Avenue Chicago, IL 60637-1506 Telephone: 773-702-0175 Fax: 773-702-3121 E-mail: [log in to unmask] http://smartmuseum.uchicago.edu ******************************** ========================================================= Important Subscriber Information: The Museum-L FAQ file is located at http://www.finalchapter.com/museum-l-faq/ .
