I went to the MA program in Costume Studies at NYU. I can answer any questions you have about it. I also interned at the museum at FIT. Both programs are good. they have some slight differences in focus. NYU is a little more focused on the art aspect of fashion, FIT a little more with conservation and physical handling (and far less expensive). I have heard complaints from students in both programs. There is also a program at the Rhode Island School of Design that is good. It is also very conservation oriented, and a bit more technical than some others.
