Alexandra,

Having grown up in Los Angeles and lived 16 years acroos the street from the Tar Pits I must tell you that these are NOT dinosaur remains!
They are animals who existed at the same time as the Great Bonneville Lake which later created the Great Basin of the western United States. I'm sorry I can't recall the time period in dates.
Still, they are marvelous to view.
  Good Luck!

I've never been to the New Mexico museum and don't know much about dinosaur museums in general, but the La Brea tar pits are pretty cool in LA where they've found numerous dinosaur bones and continue to excavate (is that true?). Of course my fondest dinosaur memory as a 5 year old was from the AMerican Museum of Natural History in NYC which seems to me to the quintessential dinosaur experience, but perhaps that's only for people who grew up there. THe Smithsonian has dinosaurs too, but I think they're better known for the great blue whale. Now I'm curious too, where are the best dinosaur museums? Subject: The best dinosaur museum in North America ?

Here's a question that has come to me from a correspondent:

"Hi, I would like to find the biggest and the best dinosaur museum in North America to take my 5 year old son to.....any ideas?...thanks,"

As I don't live in the US or Canada, what museums would the list recommend?

best wishes
