Call for Nominations for the Katherine Coffey Award

Deadline for nominations is August 20, 2002.

The Mid-Atlantic Association of Museums (MAAM) Award Committee invites nominations for the 2002 Katherine Coffey Award, established in 1972 to honor Katherine Coffey (1900-1972), an outstanding museum leader and administrator who devoted 43 years of service to the Newark Museum, including 19 years as the museum’s fourth director. The Coffey Award is given each year by the Mid-Atlantic Association of Museums to an individual in the Mid-Atlantic region to recognize distinguished achievement in the museum field. The award consists of an engraved plaque recognizing the individual’s contributions to the museum field and the recipient’s acceptance speech will be published to the MAAM Web site. 2002 MAAM Silent Auction

Deadline for Pledge Forms is September 1, 2002.

NEW this year! The MAAM annual meeting will feature a silent auction in the exhibit hall. Net proceeds from the auction will be used to establish the MAAM Leadership Enrichment & Advancement Program (LEAP). The goal of LEAP is to ensure the broadest participation in conferences, symposia, workshops, and on boards and committees among emerging and established museum professionals. Funds from LEAP will be used to provide scholarships and other types of financial assistance. This is a vital new program to support MAAM’s commitment to diversity and inclusive practices. Please consider contributing an item for the 2002 MAAM Silent Auction. Sample donated items include: vendor products and services; museum gift shop items; original art and craft items, jewelry, books, wines; registration for the 2003 MAAM conference in Newark, New Jersey (requires purchase from MAAM for $185).
