I know it for a fact that the Met uses the instruments from their
collection. However, they are not played routinely, for general public (or
maybe just a few times per year - can't quite remember), but for members
and such. If you e-mail me I could get you the name and contact info of
their curator and you can inquire about their policies in more detail.
