We are part of a City owned museum and as such, we do not charge gate fees. However, we have a 501(c)3 that takes care of tax exemptions, for fees charged on events, classes and programs. I hope this helps. Do any of you who work for state-funded museums know if your institution pays state sales tax on admissions? Isn't the state paying itself if this is the case? Also, I assume your admission fee includes the taxes. So, if you have a tax-exempt group come in, do they receive a discounted (admission minus taxes) rate? Thanks for any comments you can offer.
