POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Explorit Science Center- Davis, CA
Program Administrative Assistant
Description- This is a full-time, exempt position. Duties
include extensive public contact over the phone and in person,
handling reservations of on- and off- site educational programs and
vacation classes, upkeep and maintenance of databases, general office
work, and other duties as assigned. This is an entry-level
position, ideal for those who wish to gain knowledge and experience in
museum work.
Qualifications include- Excellent written and spoken
communication skills, knowledge of standard office procedures, ability
to manage and maintain a variety of File Maker databases, and
familiarity with MS Word, MS Excel, and PageMaker, on a
Macintosh platform. No educational requirements, but a BA or BS
is highly desirable.
The ideal candidate will have the highest standards of
organization, attention to detail, reliability, punctuality, and
professional public contact. An ability to maintain order and
calm in a fast-paced, highly distracting environment is essential.
A solid foundation in general science knowledge is a plus.
Explorit Science Center is a small hands-on science
education center in the town of Davis, California, home of the
University of California, Davis, located approximately 12 miles
west of Sacramento and 75 miles east of San Francisco. Explorit has
been providing enriching science education programs for the past 20
years.
