The Smithsonian Center for Education and Museum Studies is now recruiting
for the following position:
Assistant Director of
Programs, Smithsonian Center for Education and Museum Studies. Salary Range is $66,229 - $86,095 (GS13 with promotion
potential to GS14.). The deadline

The
Smithsonian Center for Education and Museum Studies (SCEMS) is responsible for:
building an institution-wide information and publishing program; strengthening
and coordinating Smithsonian professional development programs for teachers;
promoting excellence in education at the Smithsonian through leadership and
support activities; and serving as a resource for the infusion of multi-cultural
perspectives into Smithsonian educational policies and programs. Incumbent serves as Assistant for
Programs to the Director of SCEMS. Supports Director in overall planning,
developing and managing of all programs and activities of SCEMS. Supervises SCEMS program managers
responsible for teacher and museum staff professional development and
collaborations with professional associations, heritage month programs,
internships, Smithsonian Teachers= Night, and museum magnet schools. Works with internal and external
stakeholders to establish vision and priorities for education programs, oversee
strategic planning and establish SCEMS budget priorities and education policies.
Incumbent supervises implementation of annual Smithsonian-wide education survey,
generates appropriate reports, and analyzes findings; and prepares grant
proposals to seek funding for education programs.
