Dear Cecelia:
Some of that dry crap is very valuable to the up-and-coming museum employees and museum studies ( and art history) graduates. Museum education isn't just for the public;it is also for students of museum studies and art history, and other interested members of the public to learn about the museum's functions and operations(including policies),public programs, and their collections. The Smithsonian's High School Institute is a great outreach program inviting students from the D.C. metro area who are interested in seeing the behind-the-scenes operations (or the dry crap) of the museum. I know many students who are part of the public, who don't mind seeing how the museum works behind-the-scenes.
