While development software is one thing to consider when creating a web site
please do not lose site of other key factors such as writing for the web, navigation
design, graphic design, usability and download time. All of these factors contribute to
the "success" of your site.

If you are interested in looking at a common development process used by most
professional web designers and other info on web development for museums you
can check out our site at: http://museums.alteredimage.com

You may also want to check out a good book on web design called "Designing Web
Usability" by Jakob Nielson.

Lastly, checking out other museum web sites on the internet is a great way to get a
sense of styles. Some will have a clean, sophisticated design, while others will look
like the web developer had no design background and thought knowing how to use
web software was at that was needed.

Hope this helps.
