Please contact Campbell Center by June 14 for this workshop Registration deadline extended and space still available for: Mannequin Workshop Instructor: Helen Alten Date: June 26-29, 2002 NEH Scholarships Available This four-day workshop will provide a practical, hands-on introduction to the construction of mannequin supports for the safe display of garments. The course will combine lecture, demonstration, and practical sessions, and the class will work together and individually on mannequin supports. Course work will include: Theory and realism in the design of mannequins; Overview and testing of materials used for mannequin making; Rigid foam mannequins; Paper tape and paper mache mannequins; Rigid netting and screen forms; Plexiglass forms; Reusing old mannequins and dressmaker forms; Casting and molding for realistic details; Dancing, pants, and other problems. Participants should bring a fitted garment for which theywill select materials and construct a mannequin. Each participant will complete two forms that are theirs to keep. Therefore, bring a collapsable duffle bag in which you can transport the forms home.
