Hi Patricia, I am facing the same problem. I am going with a flat bed high resolution scanner. A board member thought that all I needed was an Epson or HP scanner with transparency adapter until he brought it to the museum and tried to scan some of our negatives. The one he had (which is no longer made was an Acer and would go for up to 4 X 5" negs. With out the frame holder it would scan 5"X7", but we have over 800 8"X10" ones. Now he has found a binuscan PhotoPerfect with RGB Software which scans with 1200dpi. The people at Amon Carter Museum in Fort Worth who have a strong photography collection had recommended that I might need a high resolution scanner, but until this board member saw for himself, he did not agree. Now he has selected the scanner, but wants me to find a source to purchase it cheaper than ddirect from the maker. I am looking at a Umax Technologies product. If you learn of a better product, let me know. Mary L. Kirby Historic Upshur Museum Gilmer, TX 903-843-5483 [log in to unmask] Can anyone provide me with specific recommendations for scanning glass negatives or direct me to someone who can? We have approximately 5000 we want to process and are seeking advice on the best way to handle this. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
