VICE PRESIDENT, COMMUNICATIONS

Our client, Americans for the Arts, seeks a Vice President of
Communications. Americans for the Arts is the nation's leading
not-for-profit organization for advancing the arts in America. The Vice
President of Communications is responsible for the organization's
communications planning and implementation.
The position reports to the Vice President /COO in areas of operations and
to the President/CEO in the areas of organizational content.

 Responsibilities include:

· Ensuring the effective and efficient use of the President/ CEO's time as
the principal spokesperson for the organization which includes preparing and
overseeing the preparation of speeches, editorials, media appearances and
other scheduled events.
· Functioning as an integral member of the Executive, Development and
Leadership Advancement teams in the implementation of the Board approved
Strategic Plan.
· Enhancing the organization's brands and trademarks, through various forms
of media, including print and electronic media and video production.
· Developing and coordinating departmental planning in concurrence with the
annual work plan and the strategic plan of the Board

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have eight to ten years of experience in a non-
profit organization with a background in the arts. The candidate should have
a deep understanding of the public policy/media issues faced by such
organizations; excellent communication skills; experience with a public
advocacy organization on a national level; legislative and public relations
experience in a national setting; experience with all media; and video
production experience.
