Also, AAA (American Automobile Association, not American Anthropological Association) will often get you a 2 for 1 discount at museums. While I agree that AAM membership will get you into a number of museums for free, this is by no means all museums. Just a couple of weeks ago I visited a large museum in Portland, OR which offered no AAM discount. It also reminds me of a visit to a museum in San Diego a few years ago. When I asked if they had a discount for AAM members, I was told that just because I was a doctor did not mean I could get a discount at the museum. So you may want to be prepared to explain the difference between AAM and the AMA.
