Thanks to all who replied to my query about special exhibit admission
prices. Special thanks to Fiona for defending my comments.

I was unaware that some museums do charge admissions for special exhibits.
I am proponent of museums making money and professionals within the Museum
world making good salaries.

However, I am alarmed at high admission prices because they restrict many
visitors with monetary concerns from visiting museums. Museums should be
open to the greatest amount of people not restricted to the very few. Our
main concerns as museum professionals should be educating our society and
preserving its cultural heritage.

High admission prices will exclude many people from many of the fine
institutions in this country. Maybe not in New York City but in many parts
of the country $16 is a significant amount money. Multiply that by a
family four and $64 is a significant amount of money anywhere.

Museums must make money in order to improve their institutions but
increasing financial gains through admission prices should be a last
resort.
