Dear Candace:

I feel for you deeply. I have dealt with many rude children. I have been
told by other teachers and principals that it seemed like the young ones,
first graders, are even more rude than the previous generations. How do we
ever expect kids to respect adults, if we give in every time they throw a
temper tantrum. They have to learn that there are ways to ask for what you
want. Why not have them talk to local community groups, other parents, and
local officials about building a skateboard park and get their parents
involved instead of just copping an attitude? Maybe they are learning from
some adults that throwing a fit is the best way to get what you want and that
one should always get what they want, at the expense of others. Very sad.

Sincerely,

Merri
