Watch out if you are using pvc inside sealed exhibit cases with fragile objects. PVC is not archival and will off gass over time and can damage certain objects. Sentra, which is a form of pvc, is ok for use outside of exhibit cases but can cause problems inside cases. Please check with a conservator.

My prefered materials for producing labels/photos/panel graphics are 3M Colorfast Vinyl and any 1/8" expanded pvc sheet stock. The vinyl is made in rolls for largeformat printers, but can can be cut to sheet sizes for wide-mouth printers (I use an Epson). The beauty is that the material has an adhesive back, so requires no heat, adhesives, presses or overlams. It can be removed without residue from most any surface, except paper and mat board. It is also waterproof and has a mat surface. Most suppliers who handle large-format printers will stock it or can get it for you.
