If I may take a break from my lurking to add my $.02 worth... AMEN, Claudia!! I have been searching for a collections position (either objects or special collections) in Northeast Ohio since October when I was downsized. I have been keeping an eye out in the Boston area because if I move from Ohio, I'd like to go to New England. Because there have not been many openings in Ohio, I have sent out a resume or two to the Boston area, with the hopes that they will not make the assumptions Claudia has mentioned. Having had the reverse experience (being in graduate school in Boston and looking for a job in Ohio for when I graduated), I was taken out of the running for a position because the hiring committee felt I would not want to move back to Ohio. I guess, the point of the matter is - If someone goes through the agonizing process of getting their resume and cover letter together to mail out for a position, please, if you assume anything, assume they would like the job. :) Thanks for letting me voice my opinion. :) Bridgette A. Kelly Curator / Archivist still hunting for a position :) __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Great stuff seeking new owners in Yahoo!
