While in grad school, I did work study at the university's museum, working
in the registrar's office. The registrar there was an advocate for finding
employment for me and her other work-study people - she brought our resumes
to AAM, kept her ears to the ground, and consequently all three of us that
worked with her are now employed at various museums. So it was a
combination of getting the practical experience, and also proving to a
person with connections that we were decent workers, so that she would
recommend us to other people.
