Hello-

I have been reading this list for about a year but have never posted anything.  I'm a second year grad student in museum professions with a concentration in registration and am starting to work on my thesis.  I would like any suggestions or help regarding ephemeral works (mostly installation pieces and performance art) in museums that cannot be preserved using the traditional ways.

I plan on contacting several museums to see how they are documenting these works and examine the standards that exist.

If anyone is familiar and has worked with documenting these types of pieces I'd appreciate any advice you can share.  I'm having difficulties locating solid ciritical material.  Everything written deals with non-traditional materials and storage but nothing on documenting the unpreservable.

Thank you so much for your time and I apologize for the roughness of the email.  I'm still in the early stages of my research.
