Application Procedures and Form Visitor Studies Association Purpose The April Award travelship helps VSA members who are new to museum audience research and evaluation, to attend their first Visitor Studies Conference. The 2002 Award consists of waiver of the conference registration fee and a $200 travel stipend. The 6th annual April Award will be presented at the conference in Cody, Wyoming from August 13 through 17, 2002. Eligibility To be eligible for the award, applicants must: ¨ be members of the Visitor Studies Association (an applicant may join when applying for the award) ¨ be new to the field of audience research/evaluation ( i.e. practicing audience research/evaluation for 3 years or less) ¨ have not attended a previous VSA conference ¨ not be a student member (VSA maintains a separate conference travel fund for student members) and ¨ complete the attached application form and questions ¨ mail the completed form and letter of support by APRIL 1, 2002 (ONLY applications postmarked April 1, 2002, or before will be accepted) ¨ provide a letter of support from someone who knows your work (museum director, immediate supervisor) Selection. Selection of the recipient will be based on the information submitted to the April Award Committee on this form (or a copy of it). The Committee will evaluate responses to each question on the basis of the applicant's professional potential to contribute to the field of museum audience research/evaluation. All else equal, preference will be given to applicants who live outside the conference area (particularly those outside of a daytrip distance) and those who provide evidence of financial need in order to attend the Conference.
