Dear Lori and Kathy (any anyone else in a similar predicament),

Hi...as someone in a Museum Studies graduate program myself, I can think of nothing better than the path I chose.  I am very fortunate to have a very supportive relationship with my family and friends regarding this matter, although I had to come to terms with a few things myself.  For example, chances are you will never be rich and those in other professions may never truly understand what you do, but like Lori noted, you have to be happy with what you are doing...and I AM!!!...LOL!!!  Although I know I have a tough road ahead of me (as evidenced by the numerous mentions of the use of alcohol while working in this field...LOL!!!), I have never felt that I was choosing the wrong path, but rather one less traveled.  Finally, I know some people who did not have the support they needed and now are very unhappy with their current career and life as a result...do what you want and make the best of it all!!!

Hope this all made sense and remained helpful.

P.S.  Kathy-If you haven't already done so, join some museum-related org. that interest you, whether regional, national, or interest-related (i.e.-registrar, Rev. War, etc.) to further your opportunity to make "connections."
