Copper Project

After a trip to the Louvre and Florence Italy award-winning artist Margret E. Short   has unveiled another challenge–the technique of painting on copper.    After studying the journals of the masters, Short has learned that this idea is centuries old   and many like Rembrandt and Chardin painted glowing images on mostly small formats.   Contrarily, many quite large altarpieces were installed in churches all over Europe.
The smooth nonabsorbent surface of the cooper is a perfect ground for Short who is a painter of  Chiaroscuro. Her  painting posesses almost imperceptible gradations of light and dark.  The project may be viewed at www.margretshort.com
