Astrida, First, you should figure out how precise/detailed you want your readings. If you are looking for a 'thumbnail sketch' of the environment, I would suggest either basic digital hygrotherms or the Boxcar and HOBO system. At our historic house museum (about 10,000 square feet) we have switched from taking daily temperature and RH highs/lows from basic digital hygrotherms to the 'automatic' HOBO and Boxcar system. For the money and for our needs, the HOBOs work great. We now can take readings from the sensors via a portable 'shuttle' and download them into the computer weekly. The data are graphed automatically, depending on what sort of information you want. You can get more info at their website www.onsetcomp.com . However, if it is just the roughest of info you need, digital hygrotherms are readily available and cheap. We made up an Excel spreadsheet to chart the data ourselves.
