I am sure you would not want to experiment and potentially ruin the item by
using the wrong product or technique.

I would consult with a member of the AIC, The American Institute for
Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works, 1717 K Street, NW, Suite 301
Washington, DC 20006. I was a member of AIC for a number of years, they are
very helpful and extremely knowledgable.
