Just to let you know that you are not the only museum with pests, our museum has a serious clothes moth infestation, which according to records I found recently is well established. With well over 500 items of uniform and 200 flags, banners, wool saddle packings etc we need something thats is effective on a large scale. We are hoping to start in couple of weeks and after speaking to a number of experts and getting as much advise as possible these are the steps we are planning: place each item in a thick polythene bag, covering buttons, badges, epaulettes with acid free tissue squeeze as much air as possible out and seal the bag, fixing a tie-on label to it place the bagged up items straight into the freezer at -19 C for 7 days or -30 for 3 days (we are using a re-frigerated lorry, -26 for 7 days) bring back to room temp/humidity gradually clean and pack away pray! Good luck with your pests Paul Connell Curator Royal Logistic Corps Museum Camberley ========================================================= Important Subscriber Information: The Museum-L FAQ file is located at http://www.finalchapter.com/museum-l-faq/ .
