Position Listing ASSISTANT TO THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR FOR PROGRAMS & PROJECTS Responsibilities: The Harvard Museum of Natural History (HMNH) is a new museum collaboration formed in 1998 to bring the vast natural science collections (21 million +) and cutting-edge research of Harvard University to the public. The HMNH's goal is nothing short of reinventing the public role of the university-based natural history museum by expanding outreach, rethinking education programs and reinstalling galleries. We seek a multi-faceted individual for the position of Assistant to the Executive Director for Programs & Projects. This position is central to the dynamism and successful functioning of the Museum, and has three principal areas of responsibility: he or she will (1) develop and manage the Museum's ambitious public lecture program, which presents 20 evening lectures per year, by such renowned figures as Bruce Babbitt, E. O. Wilson and Stephen Jay Gould; (2) undertake an array of special projects critical to the Museum's strategic goals and operations - some relating to the HMNH's proposed plan to build a new natural history museum facility; and (3) provide diversified administrative support to the Executive Director. Qualifications: Bachelors degree and 3-5 years experience. Excellent writing, research, analytical and interpersonal skills. Ability to show initiative, work independently, and juggle multiple priorities. Ability to interact professionally with all levels of management and faculty. Familiarity with a range of computer applications. Past experience organizing public lectures and events, preferred.
