POSITION AVAILABLE: Project Cataloger (One year, grant-funded
position)
RESPONSIBILITIES: To process and catalog the Avon artifact
collection. Inventory the Avon
artifact collection. Create and
maintain location finding aids in MS Access database. Apply object numbers and perform minor
conservation treatment on the Avon collection. Catalog and digitally photograph Avon
objects. Enter catalog data and
scan and attach images to records on collections management software (Vernon
Systems COLLECTION). Print, file,
and maintain documentation for paper and card files. House the collection for storage. Responsible for placement of objects in
storage and retrieval from storage.
Assist researchers to the collection and respond to research
inquiries.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree in History, Art
History, or related field required.
Master’s Degree in Museum Studies or related field preferred. High degree of accuracy in dealing with
words, numbers, data entry, and filing systems. Legible handwriting, basic typing
skills, familiarity with word-processing and database programs. Digital imaging experience
preferred. Manual dexterity, fine
hand skills, and ability to move boxes of artifacts. Ability to work independently and on
team projects. Valid driver’s
license and availability of car.
