Director of Development The Mount Washington Observatory seeks an experienced development professional to join our management team as Director of Development and Marketing. The Mount Washington Observatory is a non-profit organization dedicated to weather observation, educational outreach, and scientific research from the summit of Mount Washington, New Hampshire, and the Mount Washington Valley. Founded in 1932, the Observatory is known as "home of the world's worst weather", having recorded a wind speed of 231 miles per hour in 1932, a record that still stands. The Director of Development, based in North Conway, oversees all development, membership and marketing activities for the organization with a focus on capital campaign and annual fund drives, the grants application process, planned giving efforts and membership outreach initiatives. Reporting to the Executive Director, this position requires a high energy, innovative professional capable of working independently and in a fast-paced environment. Successful candidates must have an undergraduate degree and several years experience in non-profit fundraising, including experience managing a capital campaign. Significant understanding of grants application processes is also required. Experience with donor database systems (Paradigm) is preferred. Salary commensurate with experience.
