General Information:

Wickliffe Mounds Research Center is an archaeological site and museum of a prehistoric Native American village of the Mississippian culture. Wickliffe Mounds has an active educational and outreach program providing guided tours, special events, workshops and activities for youths and adults. The Wickliffe Mounds site has an Excavation Trail, Woods Walk Trail and Wildflower Area. Exhibits interpret the Native Americans who once occupied the site from AD 1100 to 1350, the original excavations in the 1930’s, and current archaeological research. The site is located near the Mississippi-Ohio river confluence. Site visitors come from around the world, but the majority are from the region. On-going research promotes a better understanding of this extraordinary site. Wickliffe Mounds is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and designated a Kentucky Archaeological Landmark.
