Cataloguer/Archivist for Information Resources in Art, Architecture, and Archaeology [Proposed]

Description

Reporting to the associate director and working closely with the manager for education and research of the Media Center for Art History, Archaeology, and Historic Preservation, the incumbent catalogues and cares for physical and digital materials for education projects in art history, archaeology, and architectural history, including collections of lantern slides, photographs, video, and digital images and other multimedia materials, archaeological objects, and special image and text collections as necessary for education projects in art history, archaeology, and architectural history. Collaborates in the design and training in the deployment of networked databases for images, other information, and associated cataloguing data. Supports digital image production and cataloguing. Manages copyright clearance for images, texts, and other materials. Assists with the development of multimedia research and education projects. Performs related duties and responsibilities as requested.


Qualifications

BA/BS required with course work in art history, archaeology, or architectural history; MA/MS/MLS highly preferred.Two years related work experience or comparable training required. Working knowledge of at least two foreign languages other than English highly preferred. Knowledge of spreadsheet and database software, such as Microsoft Excel and Access required. Ability to work with both PC and Macintosh operating systems preferred. Familiarity with standard image cataloguing techniques and controlled vocabularies required. Cataloguing and archiving experience in art history visual resources, architectural graphics, or archaeological materials preferred. Experience with digital imaging, databases, web techniques, and multimedia materials for on-line digital libraries highly preferred. Must demonstrate an ability to write clearly and precisely. Must be resourceful, willing to learn independently, and able to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students.


Salary and Benefits

Salary range (projected) is $35,000 to $45,000 and includes generous health, education, and retirement benefits.
