Dear Listers,

1- How do some museums encourage object and artefact donations to enrich their collections? Advertizing, personal communications, etc.
What sort of plan one needs to draw in order to get the public interested in donating objects, suitable for museum acquizition?
2- Having recieved some donations for the museum, what are the steps that follow such acquizition? Issue certificates of gratitude, a letter of thanks from the board, make a suitable celebration in the museum grounds, etc.
3- When is it appropriate to name the collection in the donor's name?
-
I would be interested to hear opinions on such issues, and/or recieve a copy of museums' guidelines in relation to these issues. The more details the better.

Thanks,

Abdullah Alsharekh, Ph.D
