Our institution is now in the process of developing a disaster plan. We are
now at the stage of identifying collections priorities. We have
approximately 60,000 artifacts in our collection. A majority of the
collection has been appraised for monetary purposes. About a third of the
collection has little or no documentation. Our current curatorial staff have
been around for about 3.5 years. There is not much to go by in terms of
determining value to the constantly changing, growing community of which we
are part of. We are interested in hearing from other museums that have been
through this process & how priorities were concluded.
Thanks.
